Vacation in Masuria

Vacation in Masuria

It was July. Friday. I was in the car on the way to Masuria. It was a three-hour drive. But there were no traffic jams.

When we arrived, it was about four-something in the afternoon. And there was a change. We always stayed in a hotel, but this time we were going to stay in a cabin!

Ansu felt at home right away.

Then there was dinner. Delicious!!! Breaded chicken with ketchup and fries. Or actually, fries with chicken and ketchup. Because it was mostly fries.

After dinner, we ran to the animations. It was the same man as two years ago. He was quite surprised when he saw me! Me, because Ida was there a year ago, but I was at a dance camp then. We happened to catch the puppet-making session. I made a puppet of my ballet teacher, and I don't know about Ida. Then the animator (whom we called uncle) started playing soccer with the boys. Just as if he were their age.

Well, and then I showed him how I do the frog.

He was in shock. Not surprising, really. Then we went to the pool and I did a backflip. There was this step halfway in the water and I did it from there.

I couldn't do it from the edge because mom was scared. And Ida learned how to swim. Near the edge.

Then I don't remember. So let's move on to the next day.

The next day it was very warm. So we decided to go out on a boat with Ansu. We went to the rental place and mom filled something out. So we can sail! The man also gave us life jackets. Everyone except Ansu. Then the man from the rental place helped us launch the boat out of the harbor because it got stuck on a sandbar inside. And finally, we set sail!

Dad then told everyone to switch seats because he preferred to row while facing away from the destination. And since his back was turned, he told us to guide him because he couldn't see where he was going. That's how we reached the middle of the lake. And we drifted because our rower got tired. And then a duck started swimming toward us. Ansu got interested immediately! She stood with two paws on the edge of the boat and if mom hadn't caught her, she probably would have been in the water already, swimming after the duck.

Then we got bored and wanted to go back. So we docked at the harbor and Ansu jumped onto the pier to hunt ducks like a real wild dog! But the ducks escaped and started laughing at her.

The next day it was terribly windy. And we went out for a walk on the beach.

I decided to practice the aerial. Because I learned it at the trampoline park but I can't do it on the ground. So I want to learn. Logical.

But the wind was blowing from the north. Which was exactly where I was running. Because that's where the mattress was closest. There are these booths with mattresses that probably weigh more than me, and to practice the aerial, a flip, or something like that, I take that mattress off. Of course, mom helps me.

It's blowing south, and that mattress is damn heavy, so I already practiced like that.

I got bored quickly. After all, it's hard to run against the wind for an hour.

I hug Ansu because she is warm.

So we moved to the pool where, in turn, I practiced a backflip from the edge of the pool. I succeeded on probably the tenth try.

I'm proud. After the last flip, I got cold. Luckily there was a jacuzzi! After the jacuzzi, I got terribly hungry. But it didn't really matter because it was lunchtime.

I ordered two dishes. Blood sausage and fish sticks. I had never eaten blood sausage in my life. It was good! That's probably mainly because it wasn't a sausage on challah with buckwheat, but some other meat on challah with buckwheat. Besides my own dinner, I ate half of mom's pork chop and some of dad's dumplings with duck and duck with Silesian dumplings. Ida only took breaded chicken on a stick. Actually, it was more like fries with chicken, because there were significantly more fries than anything else.

And the last day arrived. Which, in turn, was terribly hot. Thirty degrees!

At twelve, everyone was by the lake.

Oopsies! I forgot to tell you that I met four new friends. Natalka, Natalka, Asia, and Rozalia. Both Natalkas were nine years old, Asia was eight, and Rozalia was ten.

At first, they didn't believe me that I had finished fifth grade, because seriously, how old do I look?!

I'm short (both Natalkas are my height) and skinny as a stick, but I swear I'll be 12 in half a year! Rozalia is an exception because she is also small and skinny.

And I started calling one Natalka "Cucumber," because yesterday when we were playing Mafia with almost the whole hotel, we were in a vegetable shop and she was a cucumber, and I was a carrot, and it stayed that way.

Eventually, they all believed me and we formed the "team of jokers." Almost everyone, because Natalka needed assurance from Ida that I was actually going into sixth grade.

Getting back to the heat, the whole team of jokers, except for Rozalia, was at the beach that day. There was Cucumber and Natalka with her younger sister, and Asia with her younger brother.

Ida and Natalka's sister hit it off, while Asia and her brother mostly swam by themselves. And suddenly Cucumber disappeared somewhere. Oh well! She'll come back eventually!

And I went with Natalka and her sister to play "Dream." And suddenly Mom came and said she had ice cream for us. So Natalka and Zosia (her sister) wanted ice cream too. The shop was uphill, so the girls got ready and went to the shop.

And then Cucumber was found! She said she went to eat, and that she already had an ice cream. Vanilla. I had pistachio.

We jumped off the pier and Cucumber went boating.

So Ida and I went on the SUP.

When we were in the middle of the lake, Ida moved to Mom's paddle boat because she got scared of the "Bocian" tourist ship that was sailing toward us. My SUP, as if out of spite, turned sideways to the waves made by the "Bocian," and as a result, I fell off the SUP.

At four o'clock, we returned to the cabin completely exhausted.

Well, and on the day of departure it was also that hot and Mom also bought us ice cream. Unfortunately, we weren't at the beach, just in the car.
